MONITORING DAMS WITH SENTINEL-1
An LWD success story selected for the EU Copernicus4Regions Programme.
Monitoring dams with Sentinel-1
Throughout 2025, drawing on the experience gained from applying Radar Interferometry (InSAR) techniques to the analysis of movements in dams and reservoirs, LWD submitted the success story “MONITORING DAMS WITH SENTINEL-1” to the Copernicus4Regions programme, with the aim of having it selected for inclusion in its catalogue.
Recently, NEREUS, the organisation coordinating the programme, informed us that, in addition to the case being included in the Copernicus4Regions catalogue in the near future, it has also been selected for presentation at events to be held in Brussels in November and December 2026, with the participation of EU attachés working in the space sector.
We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Copernicus4Regions programme for its support of our use case.
The recognition by the European Union of the growing interest in the use of InSAR techniques for monitoring the behaviour of dams and reservoirs is not only a source of pride for the entire LWD team, but also an important incentive to continue along the path of innovation that we embarked on eight years ago with the support of the ESA-BIC Madrid Region incubation programme.
